Edward Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius

7.30 pm, Usher Hall, Edinburgh

This wonderful Oratorio is widely regarded as Elgar’s finest choral work. Commissioned for the Birmingham Triennial Music Festival in 1900, it tells the story of a dying man’s soul on its journey to judgement before God, through music full of emotion and longing.

For this prodigious work, the combined forces of Edinburgh Bach Choir, Jubilo, and Scottish Sinfonia, conducted by Neil Mantle MBE, are joined by a group of distinguished soloists.

Mark Wilde – Tenor
Colette Ruddy – Mezzo soprano
Michael Bundy - Bass
Morley Whitehead - Organ
